First Snow

Not that it is really any big deal, but it just started snowing really hard here. It is supposed to keep snowing through early tommorow morning. My diligent goverment co-workers have already started heading home to avoid everyone else on the highways. The ineveitable "working from home" line is being thrown about quite a bit. I can't wait to see Bailey's reaction to the snow! It is so great to have a family that I would love to be with 24/7.

Blair--know this (from another VA resident...)...this is an AMAZING place to live...unlike any we've been in. The natural beauty that surrounds us in beyond what we've seen in other places we've lived (Memphis, Dallas, Indianapolis) we have the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains in the horizon, change of seasons, plush grass, etc. It's just a great place to live (if you have a love for nature). One of my FAVORITE THINGS about Fairfax Co. is that there is a law that prohibits billboards...you won't find one ANYWHERE in the county or surrounding areas. They also have pretty strict greenbelt regulations that require so much "greenery" on all property. Most businesses are built behind a span of trees, etc. You drive down highways, and even interstates and just see trees. I really love that!!

Another thing we love is the diversity in cultures...personalities too (it took awhile to get used to living outside the Bible belt with all the friendly Southerners but it was good to see how goodness, kindness, etc. is portrayed in other ways).

The school where I work is very diverse. Every fall the kindergarteners complete an eye color chart for their classroom and display it in the hallway. I love walking by and seeing the graph they make...there's usually 3 blue eyed kids, 3 green eyed kids, 13 brown eyed kids, and a few kids with "black eyes"....anyway, I always smile because it's such a beautiful mix of cultures, languages, looks, etc.

Like Sam, we certainly miss TX on occasion but it's mostly due to being away from family...however, I think we prefer life outside the Lonestar State, simply because of all the beauty that surrounds us here...we would hate to give up the fall and winter!! There's just something about the change in season that gets everytime!!

She actually cited Memphis, Dallas, Indianapolis as if you should be impressed. We all know that Texas is the home of everything good and noble.
